Art has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. Makeup artistry is my way of bringing art, as well as my client's personality, to life. It started when I was at my grandmothers, playing around in her sky blue eye shadows, thick black eyeliners, and bright pink lipstick. The three of these items put together looked, as you probably already guessed...horrible! However, as I grew older, I learned how to piece these items together and create a makeup masterpiece! I bought all of the teen magazines I could and tried to copy every look that I saw! I even watched music videos and attempted to apply makeup just like the celebrities!
I continued practicing my craft throughout junior high and high school, applying makeup on friends and family for plays, proms and sporting events. I earned my Associates in Theater in which I learned how to apply stage makeup. During this time, I developed an interest in making different characters come to life by piecing together all the elements that make us...well...unique. I had to learn quite a bit of information to understand why women and men wore the makeup they did from different time eras. You can't pull a look together without doing your research first!
After graduating, I started working at Sephora. At Sephora, learned how to tone down the theatrical makeup by using soft palettes to create elegant, glamorous looks for women of all ages. However, I noticed that many women were afraid of trying something new...being bold! Being a bold person myself, I created vibrant, edgy looks for clients to enjoy! I wanted to start a business that will help people embrace their edginess and let people "xpress their true colors!" With that being said, Bold Xpressions by Dee was created. I became certified through the University of Makeup and have worked with several different photographers doing photo shoots ranging from bridal to high fashion to horror. I have also worked along with other makeup artists at weddings, creating the beautiful, princess look that every woman wants!
Makeup rates range depending on the event. A consultation is always a plus! This way, we can try out different looks just in case the initial doesn't work to your taste! Proper cleaning techniques are always used but as a client, you MUST let me know if you have any allergies!
